Q: Do I have to do anything to prepare before I come to a workshop?
The only preparation is that you come with an open mind, an open heart and a desire to take away something that will support you in your interaction with your child, student or group.
Q: How do participants become comfortable enough to honestly share their questions or concerns around topics that are really hard to talk about?
Each of the workshops or educational programs are expertly designed to ensure participants can safely share, listen, and ask questions of others with an experienced facilitator on hand to offer support as needed. In addition, each group designs their own ground rules that will govern how they take their mindhearted journey together.
Q: I’m afraid I’ll say the wrong thing and offend someone in the room.
Your fear is a common one. Sometimes we feel the same way, but that’s the beauty of this work – you get to say the “wrong” thing in an environment that allows us all to understand, learn and most importantly GROW from it to empower you and all of us. We do not support political correctness. REAL learning cannot happen in that context.
Q: Are your workshops geared for parents with children of a certain age?
Typically we see parents who have pre-school and elementary age children. However, we work with parents, administrators and staff with children or students of all ages.
Q: Are your works targeted at parents or caregivers of a certain age or generation?
Mindhearted learning is for people of all ages! And, although we cater to parents, this work is designed to enhance anyone and everyone’s skill set in becoming more respectful and more empowered from the diversity in our neighborhoods, schools, communities and world.
Q: What exactly is a telecourse?
A telecourse is learning by phone. Basically, each week we will all call into a number provided by a Mindhearted staff person and "meet" on a conference line so that we can hear and talk to one another. You will also have access to an online blog where all of your materials will be housed for easy access.
Q: How long is each of the telecourse sessions?
Our flagship telecourse is a 10-week program. This is our most in-depth course designed for the person who really wants the time to build on new concepts and begin incorporating them while having support and feedback. We will always announce when these will be offered on our website, in the newsletter and on the blog so be sure to subscribe to both.
Q: How many people are in a telecourse group?
There are no more than 10-12 people in the group. We do this to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to fully be heard and contribute. However, there are times throughout the year that we offer teleseminars and may have a few learners to several hundred at a time.
Q: Do you send materials ahead of time to participants in the telecourse program?
Yes. You will receive a course agenda and a detailed overview of what to expect, specific information on meeting dates, time and the call-in number on a private blog created for your group. You will also be receiving the book of choice that we will sometimes use as a basis for discovery and discussion.
Q: What are the advantages of conducting training sessions over the phone?
Now wildly popular to bring groups of learners together, a telecourse allows us to meet no matter where we are in the world! This advantage increases the possibilities of meeting and working no matter where you are at a given time or where you reside. You may meet others in your class who live in the next neighborhood or someone who lives across the Atlantic.
